Victor Ankoma-Sey, M.D. is the Director of Liver Associates of Texas, PA. He also serves as Director of the Liver Transplantation Program at Houston Methodist Hospital. In addition, he is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas. Dr. Ankoma-Sey is board certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology. He is a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association. He obtained his M.D. degree from the University of Ghana Medical School. Following his medical internship/residency at the Johns Hopkins Affiliate Program, he completed his Hepatology and Gastroenterology Fellowship training at the University of California, San Francisco.
Chukwuma Egwim, MD

Dr. Chukwuma Egwim joined Liver Associates of Texas, PA in 2008. He earned his Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology fellowships at the University of Texas at Houston Medical School. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated from the University of Nigeria College of Medicine. He is a member American Association for the Study of Liver Disease. Dr. Egwim is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Transplant Hepatology. He has completed extensive research in Liver transplantation. He has also authored numerous papers and abstracts in the field.
Scott Zela, RN/DNP
Gastroenterology / Hepatology
Dr. Scott Zela received his undergraduate degree from Houston Baptist University in 1996 and trained as a nurse practitioner at the University of Texas-Houston Health Science Center and graduated, specializing in adult and geriatric medicine in 2003. He subsequently received his Doctorate in Nursing Practice in 2012 from the University of Texas-Houston Health Science Center. Over the past twenty years, he has been working with Liver Associates of Texas treating various liver diseases and working closely with the liver transplant program at Houston Methodist Hospital. Dr. Zela serves as an adjunct faculty member for the University of Texas-Houston School of Nursing and serves on numerous advisory/consulting boards.
